Dear Parent and Carers
I have been pleased and impressed with the attitude, engagement and hard work of so many of our pupils this half term. Right across our school, pupils have applied themselves well to their learning, have tried hard in their lessons, and have been kind and supportive towards one another.
Our exam year groups have begun their GCSE, AS and A level examinations. They have approached these exams with determination and confidence, alongside understandable nerves. It has been lovely to see them so engaged and keen to do well, and to speak with them after their exams about how well it went. After half term, Y11 pupils should attend for their exams and timetabled lessons in those subjects still to be examined.
We currently have two vacancies for Parent Governors on our Governing Body. Please find attached information about the role of a governor as well as a nomination form should you wish to stand. The deadline for nominations is 15 June 2022.
Since Easter we have moved to new Welsh Government Covid guidance which is a checklist of public health control measures to ensure measures remain proportionate. These mitigations include ventilation, cleaning, and hand hygiene.
As we operate under these localised public heath control measures for now, we are able to respond appropriately and quickly here at St Cenydd, whether that be scaling our mitigations level up or down. Currently, what this means for us, is a return to school activities such as assemblies and Y6 transition events, and a return to pupil opportunities such as residential visits and the Year 11 Prom.
Just a reminder that we have an INSET day this Friday, 27 May 2022. Those pupils who have GCSE, AS or A level examinations on Friday should attend school at the usual time for their exam. Please do not hesitate to contact Mr Corke, Head of Year 11, or Mr Jones, Head of Years 12/13, if you have any queries. We return to school on Monday 6 June 2022 following the half term holiday.
I wish you and your family a lovely break and extended bank holiday weekend.
Yours sincerely
Miss Collins
