Dear Parents and Carers
We have been notified this weekend of a number of staff absences due to illness for this coming week. As outlined in my previous letter, we have developed contingency plans for such staff absence. However, like nearly all schools in Wales, we face a daily challenge acquiring supply staff to cover lessons, and we continue to risk assess the situation on a daily basis. Our staff continue to work hard to ensure the learning and support your child receives at school. However, like all members of society, they are being affected by the virus as well.
Unfortunately due to staff shortages, we will not be able to fully open tomorrow, Monday 6 December 2021. Therefore, Year 9 will learn from home tomorrow, accessing pre planned work by our departmental staff. This means that year 9 pupils should remain at home tomorrow, completing the work they have been set, and not attend the school site. All other year groups should attend school as normal.
The work for Y9 pupils to complete tomorrow will be sent to their school Gmail account and will also be posted on the Y9 google classroom in the morning. Y9 pupils will access a St Cenydd Google site where they will find video lessons from teachers in our school for every subject. They should complete the video lessons for the subjects they would normally have tomorrow as per their timetable. Although a workbook is provided, pupils should complete their work in their exercise books, on Google Docs, or on paper.
We will reassess the situation late tomorrow afternoon, and I will write to you by 1930 tomorrow evening to update you and inform you should this arrangement be required for Tuesday as well.
We continue to do all we can to maintain onsite learning. I am sorry that tomorrow we are not able to do so, but assure you that we will resume onsite learning as soon as it is possible and safe to do so.
Thank you for your support.
Yours sincerely
Miss Collins
