Examinations form a part of every child’s assessment whilst at St Cenydd. Annual National Literacy and Numeracy tests take place in the summer term for Years 7, 8 and 9. In addition subjects will hold a variety of assessments to gain an accurate picture of your child’s current performance.
In Years 10 and 11 external exams may take place in November, January and the summer term, dependent upon your child’s choice of subjects. In addition to this we hold formal ‘mock’ examinations for these year groups in the spring term to develop pupils’ examination technique. There are also controlled assessments which take place within lessons, which also contribute to GCSE qualifications.
In the Sixth Form ‘mock’ examinations take place early in the spring term, in advance of the summer term AS and A2 examinations.
Dates for mock examinations, along with Parents evenings and other key events are included in your child’s half termly Tracking report.
An Examination Information handbook for pupils in Years 10-13 is attached below. It is vital that all pupils sitting external exams are aware of its contents and understand the rules regarding examination conduct. If you require a paper copy of this document please contact the school.
Draft timetables for years 10-13 can be found below. Final, personalised timetables are issued before the exam season begins.
