A selection of Year 9 pupils were invited to Cardiff School of Art and Design to experiment with textile screen printing methods and its application in our everyday lives. First pupils designed and cut their screen stencils before attaching them to the large industrial printing screens. Each pupil had their own canvas tote bag on which to apply their design in their chosen colour with a squeegee tool that pushed the dye through the screen. Great fun! The designs were then sealed in a heat press at 190 degrees so the bags could be washed and used forever! A great way to create your sustainable bag… Watch this space for future textile designers!
