Year 7 have been exploring the work of Jasper Johns (born May 15, 1930) who is an American painter, sculptor and printmaker whose work is associated with abstract expressionism and pop art. We have looked in depth at his work 0 through 9 to understand how the things we take for granted everyday can be used to create our own individual art; in this case numbers. Each pupil has designed and layered their date of birth numbers to create a unique Johns inspired outcome which has developed their colour knowledge and introduced them to ceramics. A great unit of work and some outstanding final pieces!
