Caerphilly Chronicles was a Lead Creative Schools Project by of our Year 7 classes last year. The project was funded by the Arts Council of Wales, devised and created by Creative Practitioners Tracey Moberly, Sara Sylvester and Head of Geography Nicola Webber working alongside Georgina Clarke (English) and Stacey Lloyd Davies (R.E.).
The select group of learners explored medieval settlements, studied Chaucer's Canterbury Tales, stories from the Mabinogion and other fables. From this they created their own poetry, constructed mythical creatures and chronicled individual stories based on their environs, focusing on the landmark Caerphilly Castle at the heart of our town and community. The projectculminated in a pilgrimage with an offering of daffodils to Caerphilly Castle on St David's Day earlier this year, which was documented on film and photography by the learners and creative practitioners.
