On Friday 29th June, a small group of Year 9 pupils attended Oxford University to take part in a Celebration Day for participating in the Orwell Youth Prize. This involved them considering the key themes of George Orwell’s work and writing their own creative piece in response to the theme of Truth vs. Lies. The Celebration Day was a chance to debate with pupils from across the country, as well as taking part in seminars and discussions led by top writers. The pupils responded brilliantly and gave thoughtful and mature contributions to the topics of the day. They were a credit to the school and they left with plenty of inspiration for next year!
