Students entering both key stages 4 and 5 have the opportunity to select some programmes of study from a menu of subjects offered each year. This menu is designed to give breadth within the curriculum offer whilst also allowing individual students to choose subjects which are of interest or may be pertinent to future career pathways. Established transition programmes and guidance are in place to allow all pupils to make informed and appropriate choices at both levels.
Pupils entering year 10 (key stage 4) will be able to choose three programmes of study to accompany the statutory GCSE courses which all pupils must follow in English, maths, science, RE, Welsh, PSE and the National Skills Challenge qualification. Pupils entering the sixth form (key stage 5) will be able to choose up to four programmes of study at Advanced level; pupils at this level will also complete the Advanced Skills Challenge qualification.
